Is GTA 6 Coming ?

Rockstar has confirmed the authenticity of dozens of videos that were uploaded in a GTA community. The leak’s contents have been traced back to a hacker – likely the same person who attacked Uber – and publisher Take Two has sent takedown notices to remove any videos and screenshots from forums and social media.

Rockstar Games, the creator of GTA 6, has been hacked, revealing key data about the in-development game while shaking the gaming industry as a whole.

While the situation is terrible for the game’s development team, prompting sympathy from other devs, the leak means that we now have a very substantial amount of fresh information about GTA 6, ranging from gunplay, weapons, and general gameplay to the scenario, locations, protagonists, and more. However, because the film is apparently from an early build, most of the stolen content may be open to modification. And even if the speculated 2024 GTA 6 release date is right, we won’t know for sure for a time.

While Rockstar Games has officially acknowledged that it is working on GTA 6, it has not stated when the game will be released, much alone a specific date.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, current and former Rockstar employees believe GTA 6 is still at least two years away from release, implying a 2024 release.

Although this is simply theory, it corresponds to other stories and disclosures from the last few years. Until today, our most reliable GTA 6 release date suggestion came from Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company. According to Take-10-K Two’s SEC filing (opens in new tab) from 2020 (which lays out financial plans for the next five years), the company expects to spend $89 million on marketing between April 2023 and the end of March 2024 – a significant increase and more than half the marketing budget expected for any other fiscal year over the next decade.

A publication date in 2024 appears to be a fair guess, but one leaker thinks this could be wishful thinking. Chris Klippel, the creator of Rockstar Mag (who has previously accurately leaked Rockstar Game news), states that while the company has passed a crucial working milestone, he does not expect Grand Theft Auto to be released before the end of 2024.

It may also be the first GTA game to have a female protagonist and a couple resembling the American criminals Bonnie and Clyde. All of this is supported by newly leaked gameplay footage. Rockstar also affirmed following the leak that the event will not have an impact on the game’s development. And, given the company’s recent hiring frenzy, it appears like GTA 6 development is well underway.
